As part of Wahiawā Health’s commitment to meeting the needs of the community, the federally qualified health center recently opened a school-based health center for students at Kaʻala Elementary School in Wahiawā.

The health center is located at the Kaʻala Elementary campus, located at 130 California Ave., and demonstrates the collaborative approach between school administration, parents, teachers, school counselors and the health room.

The health center will be open for students from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays. Services include sick/urgent/acute care visits; same-day visits; well-child exams/sports physicals; immunizations; vision and hearing screenings; and mental health counseling.

“As a community health center, we are thrilled to open our first school-based health center at Kaʻala Elementary, a step we’ve been working toward for many months,” states Wahiawā Health chief executive officer Bev Harbin.
