Mavis Alaimalo, PsyD, CSAC

Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Certified Substance Abuse Counselor

Dr. Mavis earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from the American Schools of Professional Psychology and her Doctorate (PsyD) in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University. A Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC), she has served Hawai’i’s communities since 1998.

A local girl from Kalihi, Dr. Mavis brings both professional expertise and a deep understanding of the cultural values and challenges unique to the islands. She specializes in guiding adults through anxiety, depression, grief, substance use, and major life transitions. Her approach combines honest, direct guidance with evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI) to guide clients to break destructive patterns, address root causes, and develop the skills needed for lasting change.

Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected, Dr. Mavis provides compassionate support grounded in decades of clinical experience. Her goal is simple: to empower you to move forward with purpose, self-acceptance, emotional balance, and the confidence to navigate life’s complexities.

She is also a proud mother of two young men fearlessly chasing their dreams. One at University of Nevada, Las Vegas and the other soaring high at the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA).
